As predicted in my previous xyz article, Konami has revealed 3 new level 7 xyz monsters.

Here they are: Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir (ATK 2700/DEF 2300) Rank 7 EARTH Beast-Warrior-Type Xyz/Effect Monster Card When this face-up Attack Position card is selected as an attack target, change it to Defense Position. During either player’s turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; all face-up monsters currently on the field have their effects negated until the end of this turn.

Level 7 xyz monsters

Level 7 xyz monsters are level 7 monsters needed 2 level 7 monsters to summon them. You can use 1 monster and one xyz material of any level (including itself) or two monsters, each of different levels (including itself).

What is their purpose? Their main purpose is to be summoned out on the field when you cannot summon anything better in terms of level. For example, a rank 3 xyz monster needs 2 level 3 monsters to be summoned out. If you have none at your disposal, or if they are in your opponent’s graveyard/hand, you can use a level 7 monster and any material to summon it out.

Number C41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir is a good monster to have out on the field against your opponent’s monsters. Its effect can negate all face-up monsters effects until the end of the turn, which basically means it negates everything currently on the field! You can use this at any time you think you will need it and it should help you in a pinch.

What is the other effect? Its other effect is a standard material-less xyz summon by detaching 1 xyz material from it, which allows you to choose any face-up monster on the field and flip it into defense position until the end of this turn. This is a good way to stop some your opponent’s monsters from attacking, but keep in mind you’ll be giving up Bagooska itself.

How to get a level 7 xyz monster?

You can either use a level 7 or 8 xyz monster to summon it, which gives you one in your extra deck. In the main deck, the only way of getting them is fusing 2 level 6 monsters together. A good example would be with Daigusto Emeral . You can summon him by detaching 1 xyz material from a level 6 xyz monster to special summon 2 level 1 monsters from your graveyard, which can then be used to fuse into Emeral.

  • A new type of fusion monster

Number 96: Dark Liege will become the first new fusion monster, which is summoned using 2 level 6 monsters (and 1 more monster) like Daigusto Falcos . It has 3300 attack points and 2500 defense points, which are both quite high for its level.

The benefits of having a level 7 xyz monster

In your deck is that you have a mini boss available to be used in any situation. Although these monsters cannot be summoned on the first turn, they can still help out in summoning out more useful cards on your second turn or later after taking care of possible threats on your opponent’s field. I think Konami is starting something good for this card type and we should expect to see more powerful level 7 xyz monsters in the future.

Articles’ predictions That’s right, I have predicted that Konami will indeed release more level 7 xyz monsters in the future. In fact, they already have been released recently. If you missed them, you can read up on them here: Number C101: Silent Honor DARK (December 14, 2014) Number C106: Giant Red Hand (January 17, 2015)

Number S39: Utopia the Lightning : This is a level 7 light attributed monster with 3000 attack and 2000 defense points. To summon it out you need 1 level 4 light monster and 1 level 5+ non-light monster.
