We’re into the second half of the year, and that means Season 2 of MLB The Show has already launched. But if you’ve been living under a rock or you just haven’t had a chance to play since the June 7 launch date, you probably want to know what’s new.
This article discusses the latest news on MLB The Show and highlights all you can enjoy in Season 2.
MLB The Show 24 Season 2 Changes
Fans of MLB The Show will probably all agree that one of the best things about the game is that it’s always evolving. With every new season, there are bigger and better upgrades, and Season 2 in the ‘24 iteration of the game is no different.
The Seasons concept is something that has continued to evolve in Season 2, and that means that in some modes, you can no longer use Season 1-specific players in your lineups once you’ve advanced to this next season.
Don’t stress too much, though—many cards, such as all the Live Series players, are “Core”, meaning that you can use them whenever, and they’re not restricted to a specific season. You can tell at a glance whether you have a Core card because it’ll say CORE in the top-left corner.
That doesn’t mean you can never use your Season 1 players again, because some modes allow you to use players from both seasons concurrently.
For instance, in some gameplay modes, including Events, Conquest maps, Battle Royale, Showdowns, and Mini Seasons, you’ll be required to use in-Season cards to build your team. In these scenarios, if your team is ineligible in its current format, you’ll be notified, giving you plenty of opportunity to make the necessary changes.
Season 1 Player Items
In case you’re concerned about the status of your Season 1 player items, let us put your mind at ease: these will still be in your Inventory once you start playing Season 2, so you won’t lose anything.
As with your players, the player items can still be used (and are still super helpful) in certain gameplay modes.
And, looking ahead all the way to Season 4, all season cards will once again become eligible by this point, so you have something to look forward to.
The Wild Card Slot
Something to get your head around in this year’s MLB The Show is the Wild Card slot, which lets you boost your squad lineup with a player of your choice from a previous season.
From Season 2, you have the ability to earn and unlock three Wild Card slots, which is a great way to keep the game interesting.
Final Word
So, that’s all the main news and updates you needed to know about Season 2 of MLB The Show. There haven’t been too many changes, but those implemented will help you keep progressing and stay motivated as you work towards your goals.
If you haven’t had the chance to play Season 2 yet, just keep in mind that Season 3 is out soon, so you might end up skipping a season entirely.
