Hearthstone – Part 6 Skyrim se font mod. I was doing some work on HearthStone when i’ve found a really cool mod which changes the original letters from Card-board to Elder-sroll style ones, witch fits much better in my opinion. This package includes different fonts for user interface and subtitles (that can be changed in game menu). Install with Nexus Mod Manager – from now on NMM.

Fonts are much more important in this game than usually. They give atmosphere to the world and much information about culture, religion… Before converting fonts i made some researches in different books dedicated to Elder Scrolls Universe. My next font will be Dunmeri one which you can see in the game Morrowind or Skyrim (but in different forms). You can find more information about this type of alphabet system here http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Alphabets

How to install the mod

Just download and install Skyrim:Fonts Packages with NMM or manually (copy Fonts folder to Data dir in your skyrim installation).

Skyrim – Interface.font (interface font for interface and subtitles)

How to change fonts: 1 . Open your DataInterface (or other folders if you changed languages). 2 . Delete font files (.fnt) you don’t need. 3 . Rename file that you want to replace with your own (.fnt). 4 . Open SkyrimEditor.exe, open Creation Kit and load SkyrimEditorSettings.ini (if not found – create it in …Skyrim folder). 5 . Set variable:[Fonts] section Fonts.Interface to your font name (you can type only first letter – it will be autocompleted) and save SkyrimEditorSettings.ini (by pressing the “save” button).

Now you should see new font in game menu. skyrim se font mod

What does this mod do?

It changes almost all of the original Card-board style lettering to Elder Scrolls styled fonts. This is done by changing some very specific entries in the Fonts section of the String file. These are formatted as follows: FontName |R|FontStyle |Regular – Italic – Bold – Bold Italic

The strings called Default (font_unmatched) are used for any places where there isn’t an actual string to draw, like if it’s part of a sentence this font is used instead. FontTypc – Type of the font (Regular, Italic or Bold). Style – Character style (normal or oblique).

The Fonts Packages includes: FontsPackages_AllFonts. 8 fonts for UI and subtitles (interface and all texts like: “Description” etc.) FontsPackages_InterfaceFont. 2 fonts for UI (only interface) FontsPackages_SubtitlesFont. 5 fonts for subtitles (dialogues and books) FontsPackages_BooksFont. 4 fonts for books/console/notifications Folder structure:

Each font is contained in its own folder, as seen here: SkyrimFontsFontName Fonts names are as follows: 1 . Interface – main UI 2 . Subtitles – subtitles 3 . Books – books 4 . Console – console

Pros and cons of using the mod

Pros: Easy to install (just extract and run) – you don’t have to spend much time configuring mod in order it work good. Better fitting in the game world atmosphere because of better font style/shape. Cons : It doesn’t change Player name font so player will look weird with this giant letters floating above his head – it can be fixed by using some other mod. Text written in game (books, dialogs, dialogues etc.) will not appear correctly (because it’s like that in original game).

When you start Skyrim for the first time, the default font will be replaced with one of this fonts. If you are not satisfied with your choice change it in game menu (Skyrim – Interface). This mod was made by pure hard work without any tutorials except for basic tutorial that comes inside Creation Kit when you load it .
